Crimson Glory
Crimson Glory
Among prog-metal lovers, the Sarasota-Bradenton band Crimson Glory is semi-legendary, a rival to Queensryche and Tool -- especially in Europe, where its out-of-print albums are highly sought collectors' items.
It's been six years since the band released its last album, and 16 years since it performed with its classic lineup.
That will change in 2006, when CG celebrates the 20th anniversary of its first album with reissues of its back catalog, new releases of rare audio and video, and live performances, says founder/guitarist Jon Drenning.
"There's a tremendous amount of loyal fans around the world who love this band, and they're making it possible for this to happen, because they keep demanding more material from Crimson Glory," Drenning said.
Drenning has reassembled original members Midnight (lead vocals), Ben Jackson (guitar) and Jeff Lords (bass). The drummer has yet to be announced.
The reunion will include:
Remastered reissues of the band's self-titled first CD, originally released in 1986, "Transcendence" (1988) and "Astronomica" (1999), all on Black Lotus Records. All will contain previously unreleased tracks; "Astronomica" may include Midnight's vocals for the first time and a new video shot at the pyramids in Egypt.
A DVD featuring never-before-released live footage, including a 1989 concert at the Manatee Civic Center.
An anthology box set, "Valley of Shadows, Kingdoms of Light."
Live performances at various European festivals.
In addition, Drenning has signed a side deal with Black Lotus to distribute CDs by unknown American bands in Europe. Drenning, who books and promotes acts in various Bradenton clubs, has already made agreements with Gargamel! and Ripa Joda.
The band also plans on recording an all-new album for 2007, backed by a tour.
All this begs one question: Will Crimson Glory once again don the face masks synonymous with its name?
"Being that it's part of our history, I think we will to some degree," Drenning said. "Maybe for (concert) encores, we'll put the masks back on."
Een reunie met Midnight en met maskers. Geniaal.

Goed topic man!
Steengoeie band, Crimson Glory.

http://www.crimson-glory.com/
http://www.bnrmetal.com/groups/crgl.htmWith Astronomica behind them, Crimson Glory went back into remission for several years. Ben Jackson and Jeff Lords both are involved in side projects (see links below), and Wade Black went on to Seven Witches and Leash Law. Former vocalist Midnight, after an extended absense from public view, emerged for a time and released an acoustic EP, then seemingly disappeared again, and has re-emerged, in a sense, with a cryptic new site (below). Finally, in April 2006 came reports that the core trio of Lords, Jackson, and Jon Drenning had reunited with Midnight, and have signed an album deal with Black Lotus Records, and are once again set on resuming their career.

"Did he also tell you he is a piteous alcoholic pothead, incapable to find his way to an airport, pretending to be an insane/genius/great artist/with spiritual powers in the hope to get a chick or something. Did he mention he didn't even know the lyrics of his own songs, shit he couldn't even read them they were in front of him. I am glad I was dead drunk at Rockwave and didn't watch this fiasco.
A good friend of mine who handled the promotion of Black Lotus Records did a euro promo tour with him last year when he released his solo album. It's a miracle he didn't kill this miserable clown, he gave him lot of trouble and embarassment, there are stories that are so ridiculous it's hard to believe they are true. When the promo guy had to take an earlier flight and left him on his own for 1 hour in the airport (I think Madrid), he got lost in a spanish airport, missed his flight, although he was given the ticket, flight number, and dead simle directions on which desk he has to check in and boarding gate etc. He was then lost there for a couple of days demanding a flight direct from Madrid to Tampa, cause he was afraid he would get lost in a connect flight, what a clown. And guess what, this year he managed to get lost, and lose the rest of the band in the airport!!!!!
Anyway, even back when Crimson Glory released their good first two albums, the rumours were that the in live shows the vocals were laughable, all out of tune and all pitch shifter.
Midnight doesn't like Heavy Metal? I am glad he doesn't, he is an embarassment."

geweldige band inderdaad.

Norwegian metallers TOMORROW'S OUTLOOK have posted a 60-second clip of their CRIMSON GLORY cover, 'Red Sharks', featuring Norman 'Ski' Kiersznowski and Mike Gorham on a duet. Check out the clip at www.myspace.com/tomorrowsoutlook.
'Red Sharks' will be included on the upcoming The Revenge Of Azrael tribute to Crimson Glory, due later in the year via Metallicarchangel Records. The Revenge Of Azrael lineup:

FAITH FACTOR - 'Azrael'
WITHOUT WARNING - 'Lost Reflection'

HELD UNDER - 'Valhalla'
INNOSENSE - 'Masque Of The Red Death'

Cd 'Against a Darkened Sky' is vanaf komende week leverbaar bij cosmox voor slechts 12,50.

Muzikaal is Astronomica best in orde.
