Foute conclusie!

Kent iemand trouwens het tribute album 'Working Man'?

Rush (sinds vandaag)
Fly By Night (sinds vandaag)
Caress of Steel (sinds vandaag)
2112
A Farewell to Kings
Hemispheres
Permanent Waves
Moving Pictures
Signals
Grace under Pressure
Grace under Pressure tour Soundtrack
Power Windows
Hold Your Fire
A Show of Hands (sinds vandaag)
Presto
Roll the Bones
Counterparts
Test for Echo
Feedback

en qua dvd's :
Rush in Rio
R30
Rush ReplayX3

Genot ten top, wereldband.

Kleine update over het nieuwe album:
Cassandra Szklarski of the Canadian Press reports:

Canadian rock icons RUSH are working on a collection of new songs based on Neil Peart's reflections on faith, the drummer said Thursday from his home in Los Angeles.

Peart said he, high-pitched singer Geddy Lee and guitarist Alex Lifeson spent much of this year crafting the power trio's first slate of new material since 2004's "Vapor Trails" and expect to begin recording in November for an album release early next year.

Peart revealed few details about the record, except to say that reflections on faith emerged as a clear theme from the very beginning.

"I tried hard to look at it as a subject — what's good about it — and tried to balance that against what I saw as not being a good thing," said Peart, noting his experience as a Canadian living in the United States for the past six years has given him a unique perspective on world events.

"All we're seeing, especially in the world today, is a very malevolent kind of faith, in fundamentalism of all kinds, on both sides. One of the lines I use in the new songs equates Middle East and Middle West, because this stuff is going on in both localities, although both would probably be insulted by the comparison."

Peart said much of the new material was hashed out long distance, with him exchanging lyrics from Los Angeles for the song sketches of Lee and Lifeson, who both live in Toronto.

2112 wordt bewaard voor het nageslacht:
Rush preserved for posterity
Seminal album 2112 included in cultural trust Drummer Peart

a bit divided about Canadian honour
Oct. 21, 2006. 01:00 AM
VIT WAGNER
POP MUSIC CRITIC

Rush drummer and lyricist Neil Peart has mixed feelings about the Toronto trio's 1976 prog-rock masterpiece, 2112, being singled out for conservation.

On the one hand, Peart is flattered that the Audio-Visual Preservation Trust, an organization dedicated to safeguarding Canada's film, TV, radio and musical legacy, is adding the 2112 masters to its archive.

The album will be officially inducted during the organization's annual MasterWorks ceremony to be attended by Governor General Michaëlle Jean Thursday at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel. It will be honoured alongside 11 other works, including the NFB documentary The Champions and the classic Quebec film Les bons debarras.

"It seems a worthy thing," says Peart on the line from Los Angeles, where Rush is working on a new album to be released next year. "We've been slowly trying to rescue our old master tapes and transfer them to digital because they do degrade horribly over time. So I understand the necessity of what they're doing."

Whether Peart would have chosen that album — or any other by Rush — for preservation is another matter.

"I accept the transitory nature of music in general and especially popular music," he says. "As a listener I move on and very rarely go back and listen to anything I listened to 30 years ago. I'm always about moving forward. When an artist I like puts out a new record, I don't listen to the old one any more.

"I see it the same way with Rush. When we tour, we play those songs. They're still great to play and I'm still proud of many of them. But I would definitely fear the realization that the best record we made was 10 or 20 years ago. That would be hard to live with."

Peart might be reluctant to flag 2112 as Rush's best album, but has no reservations about identifying it as the band's breakthrough. Recorded in a month by Peart, singer/bassist Geddy Lee and guitarist Alex Lifeson, it was a calculated act of creative defiance.

"Our first three albums had all done so-so in Canada and the U.S.," Peart recalls. "We were under a lot of pressure from our record company and management to be more commercial, to toe the line as it were, and write some singles. We were made to understand that this was our last chance.

"We could cave under that kind of pressure, of course, or we could rebel against it. We were mad at people daring to tell us how to make music. For me, growing up in the '60s, that was simply evil. It was very much us against the suits. That kind of energy was present big-time during the recording."

Far from delivering radio-friendly singles, Rush devoted the entire first side of 2112 to the title track, a 20-minute composition on the theme of rebellious individuality loosely inspired by the Ayn Rand novel Anthem.

"Suddenly, our sales multiplied five or six times and we were headlining small theatres," Peart says. "It was absolutely the hinge in our whole career. It could so easily have gone the other way. If that record had fallen between the cracks, it would have been the end of us I'm sure."

RUSH drummer Neil Peart has posted a lengthy new update on his official web site. An excerpt follows:

"Exactly one year ago (to recap a story begun in earlier reports), my bandmates and I started talking about working on some new songs. Alex and Geddy got together in Geddy's home studio in Toronto and simply played, letting the new ideas flow out unguided and unedited, while 3000 miles away in California, I began drafting some lyrics and sending them up.

"In March, the three of us met at my house in Quebec, and Alex and Geddy played me the six songs they had been working on. All of us felt very positive about their direction, and agreed that we needed to spend some time working together. In May we moved into a small Toronto studio, and started refining those songs and writing a few others.

"As previously reported, in June I recorded three songs in Los Angeles with my friend Matt Scannell, and for me as a drummer, that was a challenging and inspiring experience. Also, the new set of purpose-built 'recording' drums that my friends at Drum Workshop put together for me, which were intended to be used on Matt's project and become my 'West Coast kit,' sounded so good that I had them sent straight east, to use on the new RUSH album.

"Later that month, I also fulfilled a longtime challenge as a motorcyclist, doing a 'Thousand-in-One' — 1000 miles in one day — in the course of riding my R1200GS from Los Angeles to Quebec, 3000 miles, in four days. (Yes, I was in a hurry!)

"Though obviously no leisure tour, it was still a powerful traveling experience, giving me what felt like a 'snapshot panorama' of a wide swath of North America — California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ontario, and Quebec — in such a brief time.

"And even on that express route, mainly keeping to the 'mileage disposal units' of the interstates, and even in the fierce heat of early summer in the desert Southwest, there were still hours of sublime beauty: the Mojave Desert (always), I-70 through Utah and Colorado (perhaps the most scenic stretch of interstate in the country), and even the Great Plains. Unlike some travelers, I never find that part of the country boring. The highways are flat and straight, sure, but those endless green farmlands all around make a nice kind of 'intermission' in a transcontinental roadshow, opening with the deserts and mountains of the West, and closing with the forests and rocky bluffs of upper Michigan and northern Ontario. On a journey like that, the prairies were a welcome pastoral interlude."

en nog een....
According to a posting on the RUSH fan site Power Windows, RUSH guitarist Alex Lifeson spoke with Canada's Rock Station (95.1 & 100.7 The Rock) earlier in the week about the group's new album, which is believed to have a working title of either "Snakes and Arrows" or "Snakes and Ladders". Alex revealed that the band flew to Los Angeles on Monday, January 15 to begin mixing the CD and expects to put the finishing touches on the LP by the end of the month. The album took only 30 days to record — the shortest time RUSH has taken to record a CD since 1977's "A Farewell to Kings"! Andrew MacNaughtan has been video-taping the entire project, with the possibility that a "making of" DVD will accompany the final product.

During the interview, Lifeson stated that RUSH will launch a North American tour on June 12 or June 13, with plans to stay on the road through the end of the year, to be followed by dates in Europe and South America. When asked about RUSH's exclusion from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Alex stated "I couldn't care less. Look who's up for induction — it's a joke".

To hear the entire 15-minute interview, click on "Rock Interviews" at TheRock951.com.

RUSH's new album is expected to be released late spring/early summer via Atlantic. The tracks were put to tape at Allaire Studios in upstate New York with co-producer Nick Raskulinecz. "I have never enjoyed the recording process so much, nor been so satisfied with the results," drummer Neil Peart wrote last month on his web site.

Peart previously told Billboard.com some of his lyrics for the new songs were inspired by his motorcycle journeys throughout the United States, chronicled in the recent book "Roadshow: Landscape with Drums".

"Just seeing the power of evangelical Christianity and contrasting that with the power of fundamentalist religion all over the world in its different forms had a big effect on me," he said.

We gaan stug door!:
Canadian rock trio RUSH is rumored to have scheduled the following live dates in support of their forthcoming new studio album (provisionally titled "Snakes and Arrows"):

Jun. 13 - Nashville, TN @ Starwood Amphitheater
Jun. 15 - West Palm Beach, FL @ Sound Advice Amphitheater
Jun. 16 - Tampa, FL @ Ford Amphitheater @ Florida State Fairgrounds
Jun. 18 - Atlanta, GA @ HiFi Buys Amphitheater
Jun. 19 - Charlotte, NC @ Verizon Wireless Amphitheater
Jun. 27 - Mansfield, MA @ Tweeter Center
Jul. 02 - Wantaugh, NY @ Jones Beach Amphitheater
Jul. 04 - Darien Lake, NY @ Six Flags
Jul. 07 - Homdel, NJ @ PNC Arts Center

It should be noted that these dates have **NOT** been officially confirmed by the band or its management.

In other news, the first single from RUSH's upcoming album is expected to be "Far Cry" (or "Farcry"), and it is set to go for radio adds on March 13.

RUSH's new album is expected to be released late spring/early summer via Atlantic. The tracks were put to tape at Allaire Studios in upstate New York with co-producer Nick Raskulinecz.
Zie (http://members.home.nl/uriahheep/lichte ... voorde.htm)

Hopen maar dat dit gerucht klopt! 8)

Meer Rush spam:
According to a posting on the RUSH fan site Power Windows, producer/engineer Rich Chycki has commented on the new RUSH album, "Snakes & Arrows", which he recorded and alongside Nick Raskulinecz. "Recording was completed at Allaire Studios in Shokan, New York during November/December 2006," Chycki writes on his blog. "I mixed the CD in the Neve 88R room (Studio D) at Ocean Way Studios in Los Angeles. Experiencing their immense musical talent and personal integrity over the course of an entire CD was truly inspirational. And Nick is such an enthusiastic, focused talent as well — a rocker through and through too."

The first single from "Snakes & Arrows" will be "Far Cry". "Snakes & Arrows", their first set of new RUSH material since "Vapor Trails" in 2002, will be out May 1. If you go to the official Rush.com website, you can hear a short snippet of "Far Cry", which should be released in the next few weeks.

RUSH drummer Neil Peart previously told Billboard.com some of his lyrics for the new songs were inspired by his motorcycle journeys throughout the United States, chronicled in the recent book "Roadshow: Landscape with Drums".

"Just seeing the power of evangelical Christianity and contrasting that with the power of fundamentalist religion all over the world in its different forms had a big effect on me," he said.

The band will hit the road this summer behind the album, and guitarist Alex Lifeson recently said the tour would begin in mid-June. There have been rumors that opening night will be June 13 at the Starwood Amphitheatre in Antioch, Tennessee, though nothing's been confirmed yet.

Heel mooi artwork.
Doet me denken aan mijn vakantie in West-Australie vorig jaar.
