Elke fan zal gewoon de naam Rhapsody gebruiken blijven gebruiken.

Ik zal in ieder geval niet in het openbaar zeggen "hey, heb je de nieuwe Rhapsody Of Fire al gehoord?"

Als ze echt gedwongen worden de naam te veranderen vind ik het eigelijk wel logisch dat ze zo iets verzinnen (had misschien iets minder flauw gekunnen), dat voorkomt denk ik een nog grotere verwarring over de band.

We zullen zien wat het dit keer word. De laatste viel me tegen door de voorspelbaarheid. Als dat dit keer weer zo is dan ben ik uitgekeken op Rhapsody...

Ik vind de album-cover een beetje Blind Guardian-achtig, niet? De songtitels zijn weer des Rhapsody waar de efteling nog een puntje aan kan zuigen. Is het niet iets voor Rhapsody om een illustratie van Anton Pieck te gebruiken?

Even serieus. Ik mag hopen dat we weer een wat agressiever album mogen verwachten met meer melodie. Van het laatste werkje werd ik niet warm of koud eigenlijk. Het was niet slecht maar niet bijzonder genoeg om het een memorabel album te kunnen noemen.

Tot slot. Laten we deze band na driehonderdzesenvijftig albums dito singles gewoon Rhapsody blijven noemen. Ik vind dat On Fire geneuzel zo'n lachertje. Je moet nog meer typen ook.

zo, ik zie in m'n promosheet dat Christopher Lee weer van de partij is op de nieuwe cd, en dat dit het tweede deel van The Dark Secret saga is.

en er doet een 50 koppig koor mee, en een 60 koppig orkest uit Timboektoe

Dan zit je precies goed.

Overigens snap ik niet waarom mensen hier beweren dat SoELII tegenviel: ik vond die lange soundtrackpassages juist de spreekwoordelijke kers op de taart, vooral omdat het perfect bij een band als Rhapsody past.

De cd is uit.

Na één keer luisteren is de voorlopige conclusie dat het een kleine tegenvaller is. De nummers zijn veel meer ingetogen dan voorin. Het verhaal gaat over de avonturen in een duister labyrinth, dus veel actie en dus verwachte ik wel een heftige cd vol snelle nummers. Helaas.

Fabio zingt inderdaad erg goed. En ik zal 'm zeker wat vaker luisteren, misschien moet ie nog groeien.

Nu ik de cd na een paar dagen nog een keer hebt beluisterd vind ik er ook nog niet veel aan. Mijn even-geen-Rhapsody-bui is nog steeds niet over blijkbaar:P
Maar na Symphony Of Enchanted Lands Part II was het ook wel moeilijk om die te evenaren.
Anyway, het is wel een mooie plaat. Het nummer in Manowar stijl is zeker niet moeilijk te vinden?

Het word wel eens tijd dat ze eindelijk eens hier naar Nederland komen

heb de cd een tijdje geleden geluisterd vond het echt barslecht, sinds power of the dragonflame lijken ze me steeds trager te worden en steeds meer op te scheppen met hun leuke koor waardoor fabio minder mag doen ook de gitaar verdwijnt in het niets... dan luister ik toch liever wat wagner als ik klassiek wil horen...

Ik heb dit album geleend. Dit is tevens de eerste keer dat ik het niet aandurfde een Rhapsody-album blindelings te kopen na, naar mijn mening, een zeer matige voorganger.

Eerste indruk: Ik vind de muziek eigenlijk wel okee. Melodieuzer en ook niet zo over-the-top als SotEL2. Dat het tempo ditmaal wat lager ligt deert mij niet zo. De nummers blijven op een constanter niveau dan die op de voorganger stonden.

Toch zal ik het album eerst nog aan een paar kritische luisterbeurten onderwerpen voordat ik op aanschaf overga.

First of all thank you for all the patience you had in these last times despite the lack of news regarding the band. We wanted to inform you that we are in the middle of a hard legal fight with MCM and his main representative Mr. Joey De Maio.

That’s the reason why in the last months we had to keep all strictly confidential and could not release any official declaration that could obviously be used against us from the opposite side. And that’s also the reason why we were constricted to stop completely our band’s activity. Frankly we are not able to imagine if all this can end in a very close future but we want to assure you that we are ready to fight with all the strength of body and soul in order to protect yours and our beloved band. Rhapsody Of Fire keert terug

Rhapsody Of Fire stond geruime tijd op non-actief als gevolg van een juridisch gevecht met Magic Circle Music platenbaas (en Manowar bassist) Joey DeMaio. De Italiaanse power metal formatie heeft echter in Nuclear Blast een nieuw label gevonden en zal op 5 maart eindelijk een nieuw studio-album uitbrengen. De plaat heet The Frozen Tears Of Angels en is geproduceerd door de bandleden Luca Turilli en Alex Staropoli. Voor de eindmix is Sascha Paeth verantwoordelijk. De teksten vormen, na Symphony Of Enchanted Lands II: The Dark Secret (2004) en Triumph Or Agony (2006), het derde hoofdstuk van The Dark Secret Saga. Enkele songtitels zijn (naast de titelsong) Raging Starfire, Reign Of Terror en Sea Of Fate. Behalve de standaard jewelcase en een vinyl versie zal er een gelimiteerde digipak verschijnen, met twee bonustracks en een 32 pagina's tellend boekwerk.

Italian metal heroes RHAPSODY OF FIRE return with a fantastic new album that will be released on March 5th, 2010 by their new label NUCLEAR BLAST, which is known for acts like Nightwish, Edguy or Blind Guardian.

“We are finally proud to announce to the world that Rhapsody Of Fire are stronger than ever and finally ready for their glorious come-back! We just signed a worldwide-level agreement with the legendary label ‘Nuclear Blast’, at this time the greatest choice we could have ever done. Wonderful people, a great business vision and the best organization possible, for a relationship that can be anything else but successful for the years to come.

In the last months we worked very hard and now all we can say is that a great new album, a real masterpiece of power/speed/symphonic metal, is finally ready!

It’s title is ‘THE FROZEN TEARS OF ANGELS’, it is produced by Luca Turilli and Alex Staropoli and it was mixed and mastered by our valorous friend Sascha Paeth at the Gate Studio in Wolfsburg (Avantasia, Epica and others).

This is not just a new album for us, but pure emotion carved in music.

Lyrically it’s based on the 3rd chapter of ‘THE DARK SECRET SAGA’ and the long journey of five bravehearts to the frozen northern lands at the unexplored borders of the known world in order to find a way to stop the demonknight’s prophecy. Aangezien ik een andere homofiele jeugdzonde ook weer heb opgepakt (Warhammer 40K) heb ik laatst tijdens het schilderen Rhapsody weer eens opgehad (Dawn Of Victory) en dat beviel goed. Ik ben benieuwd naar het nieuwe album iig!

Ik ben na Power Of The Dragonflame afgehaakt. Het ontbrak sindsdien aan goede melodielijnen terwijl de songs zo verschrikkelijk uitgesponnen werden dat de spontaniteit helemaal verdween. Komt bij, die zanger heb ik altijd een zwak punt bij die band gevonden. Die Lione klinkt echt te vaak alsof'tie moet poepen.

Die teksten, ach ja, Manowar is er ook groot mee geworden.

Ik vind de zang soms onverstaanbaar, er ligt een overduidelijk Italiaans accent op. Verder vind ik Power of the Dragonflame de beste cd van het gezelschap, al zijn de latere albums ook niet slecht.

Eind deze week zou het nieuwe Rhapsody Of Fire album uit moeten komen, maar het is angstvallig stil rond deze release. Dus heb ik even wat rondgekeken op internet en het schijnt dat de release is uitgesteld tot 30 april.

Op de website van platenlabel Nuclear Blast wordt echter nog geen enkele releasedatum aangegeven, dus hopen maar dat het album niet nog langer wordt uitgesteld.

Hmm, in de laatste Aardschok stond de releasedatum nog gewoon op 5 maart. En op de site van de band staat ook nog steeds 5 maart genoemd, in het verhaaltje.
