JESS & THE ANCIENT ONES - JESS & THE ANCIENT ONES (2LP/BLACK)
Debut album, gatefold cover. Jess and the Ancient Ones is an Occult Rock band from Kuopio, Finland. This seven-headed entity was given birth by Thomas Corpse and Thomas Fiend, its purpose being the exploration of magical realms beyond the mundane. The band's lyrical concept is based upon the personal occult experiences of the writers, which combined with music the creates a strong mystical atmosphere. With the vocal talent Jess as their frontwoman and three guitars in the lineup, JATAO draw inspiration from heavy metal and rock groups of the classic era, such as Mercyful Fate, Roky Erickson, Iron Maiden and Abba. The album was recorded in December by Necromorbus Studio, known for their previous work with bands such as Watain. The result of these sessions is the eponymous album, a 53 minute moonlight ride into the nether regions of progressive occult heavy rock.
KISS - ROCKS VEGAS (2LP+DVD)

Captured in the midst of their 40th Anniversary World Tour, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers sonically shook Vegas during their residency at The Joint (at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino) in November 2014. This Sin City set sizzles with KISS classics from across their 44 album legacy: 'Rock And Roll All Night', 'Detroit Rock City', 'Shout It Out Loud', 'Love Gun' and more. As a bonus feature, 'Kiss Rocks Vegas' includes a seven-song acoustic set. Reissued on 180-gram vinyl this is 1984's s/t album by the metal band from Seattle, WA, featuring original vocalist Mike Howe. The most notable songs are the opener 'Beyond The Black', the title track, the instrumental 'Merciless Onslaught', 'Gods Of Wrath' (which is different from all the other tracks, as it displays clean vocals, clean rhythms and fluent solos) and the Deep Purple cover 'Highway Star'.
SAINT VITUS - LIVE VOL. 2 (BLACK/2LP)
Limited edition of 800 DOUBLE-LP's on BLACK VINYL. The second live set ever released in the 35-year lifespan of these godfathers of doom metal. Nonetheless, SAINT VITUS choses to preserve the band's raw and pure live sound without cleaning up and patching with overdubs. Taped in Luxembourg, these 2013 recordings were made during the tour that marked the return of Scott "Wino" Weinrich.

A STORM OF LIGHT - NATIONS TO FLAMES (2LP)
A Storm Of Light are New York-based metal alchemists, featuring former NEUROSIS visual master Josh Graham. Kim Thayil (SOUNDGARDEN) lends guitar on several tracks. On this release the band ditched the heavy rock elements of its previous release in favour of influences of f.i. Killing Joke, Bad Brains, Metallica and Crash Worship. This approach brings back the intensity of 'Black Ocean', but with the speed and precision that reminds of the band's metal influences. While there still are a couple of slower/sludgy tunes, some songs are twice as fast as the older material.
ACCUSED - THE CURSE OF MARTHA SPLATTERHEAD
Limited edition of only 500 copies on 180-gram splatter coloured vinyl, with two bonus tracks and including a poster. 'The Curse Of Martha Splatterhead' brings us up to date with a band still going after 28 years. The Curse of Martha Splatterhead is a ridiculously frenetic and enjoyable album. For the most part, the pace here is an unrelenting display of speed. Drum patterns mix the frenzied but controlled approach you'd expect to find on a Slayer album. 'The Curse Of Martha Splatterhead' offers an invigorating listen from start to finish. It doesn't get more cathartic than this.
BLACK BREATH - HEAVY BREATHING
REPRESSED! On Heavy Breathing the band goes far beyond the metallic D-beats of its debut. This is good old Death'N'Roll like we haven't heard since 'Wolverine Blues' first dropped. It's got all the brutal swagger of that album, along with healthy doses of Grave and Dismember influences for good measure. It's a huge sounding record too, with the drums branching out from the crust of the debut, and the bass really filling out the low end while the gnarly guitars lay down the filth.
BLACK BREATH - SENTENCED TO LIFE
REPRESS! This full length by Bleak Breath is an even more vile, metallic sonic attack than its predecessor, with a bit less rock'n'roll swagger and more full-on crushing death metal rage.
GOATSNAKE - BLACK AGE BLUES (2LP/CLEAR)
On CLEAR double vinyl, this is the 2015 album from GOATSNAKE, with nine anthemic songs and each of the four members in top form. Pete Stahl's vocals have never sounded so good, the rhythm section (drummer Greg Rogers and Scott Renner on bass) is the driving force on each track, and Greg Anderson's guitar riffs are heavier than ever before. On the album's intro we hear the acoustic guitar of David Pajo (Slint, Aerial M, Papa M) and there also are parts with piano, violin and female vocals. Though 'Black Age Blues' sounds familiar, nothing here is a repetition of what we've heard before, as GOATSNAKE continues to refine the timeless, ultra-heavy rock that they are infamous for, surpassing even the highest of expectations..
