Inderdaad, ieder album is een op zichzelf staand werkje. Hoewel Opiate verder vrij weinig 'ziel' heeft. Terwijl het wel stuk voor stuk top nummers zijn (op Opiate dus).
Alle albums van Tool zijn erg goed en ik vind het eigelijk best lastig om de albums met elkaar te vergelijken. Maar ik kan wel zeggen dat Undertow me op de een of andere manier het meeste aanspreekt.

Op de site van de Philipshalle in Dusseldorf kunnen er al kaarten besteld worden voor het concert van 8 juni. Aangezien Dusseldorf voor mij net zo ver is als Amsterdam (en omdat er nog steeds geen bevestiging is voor de HMH) denk ik er sterk aan om kaarten te bestellen. Als er gegadigden zijn uit de regio Nijmegen die mee willen rijden hoor ik het graag.

Ik ga hem ook zeker kopen, kon mezelf gewoon niet inhouden om op die torrent te klikken.
Echt een geweldig album dit, met als voorlopige hoogtepunten wings for Marie/10.000 en right in two. Op sommige punten is het album harder inderdaad (vooral in Jambi, ik snap nu wat ze met de messhuggah invloeden bedoelen, om nog maar te zwijgen van de geweldige talkbox gitaarsolo), maar er zitten ook weer erg trippy stukken in. Weet nog niet of ik het beter vind dan Lateralus, wel anders, duidelijk geen Lateralus 2. Vicarious is het enige echt lateralus achtige nummer volgens mij. Teksten zijn ook totaal anders dan op lateralus, minder abstract en spiritueel en meer naar buiten gericht. Gedetaillerde review volgt nog wel als ik het geheel heb kunnen laten bezinken.

Ik wacht nog even met mijn definitieve oordeel. Tool album groeien namelijk nog een tijdje door. Mijn eerste indruk is dat het niet echt een totaal ander album dan Lateralus is (en da's uiteraard geen slecht ding). Eerst nog maar eens een keer of wat luisteren!
