Swedish Power Metal merchants FALCONER are set to release their fourth studio album "Grime Vs. Grandeur" on May 2nd, 2005 via Metal Blade Records!
"It is what we would like to call a comeback," states mastermind Stefan Weinerhall, "since the last album felt a bit too unfocused and not as good as it should have been. This time though… oooh, how I have rubbed my hands to some of the stuff!"
On this new album, Stefan shared the songwriting duties with singer Kristoffer Göbel to some extent, which gave the whole affair more variety and a new approach, allowing Stefan to only bring forth his best ideas and dumping the rest.
"Kristoffer was also more confident in the studio this time," continues the guitarist , "which cannot be missed by anyone. He fits the songs like a glove! With songs like 'Humanity Overdose', 'Emotional Skies', 'Child Of The Wild', and 'I Refuse' we feel like: If people don't like this it's time to start doing something else 'cause people are retarded!"
"Grime Vs. Grandeur" features guest performances by Snowy Shaw on drums and Andy LaRocque on additional lead vocals.
"People will recognize the FALCONER sound but also get to discover a new aspect of it," concludes Stefan. "So prepare to get a dose of the best melodies in the metal world spiced up with more attitude and a heavier sound than ever before."
Falconer is een goede band, dus ik denk dat er velen net als ik blij zullen zijn met dit nieuws.

Ik heb er nog nooit iets van gehoord, maar ik hoor iedereen er over dat de eerste plaat het beste is.
Waarom? Hoe klinkt die plaat dan?

de eerste? Check het zou ik zeggen. Ik kan er wel een verhaal over gaan tikken maar daar is dan vast weer iemand het niet mee eens. De zang is daar iig een heel sterk punt. De zanger die meedeed op de eerste plaat is na de eerste plaat vervangen door een 13-in-dozijn heavy/powermetal zanger. Daarom vinden veel mensen alles na het eerste album kut.

Goeie combinatie van heavy metal en folk-invloeden (niet te groot). En dan ook nog eens de stem erbij van die eerste zanger. De originele zanger Matthias Blad is uit de band gestapt omdat Falconer groter werd en kon gaan touren, maar hij zijn tijd in zijn passie widle steken, namelijk toneel/theater 
Echter op Grime vs. Grandeur zingt Kristoffer Göbel een stuk beter dan op Sceptre of Deception. Echter haalt hij Matthias' niveau niet, maar het is een goede stap vooruit

In a posting on their official web site, the band write, "Well, once again the line up of FALCONER is changing. 'Now again!!' you might say. It does sound a bit unstable to do this every once in a while, I know.
"After realizing that changing vocalist was not that applauded by people nor was the musical change on the last album (isn't it great when people are open minded....) we thought: 'OK, sailing towards the wind is getting boring' (personally I would say a sense of cynicism started to grow), 'Why not sail with it instead in good mood?'
"After changing the new music into more folkish style (and loving the sound of it) Karsten and I thought, 'Why not go the whole way, it would really fit the music.
"So hereby we present you the return of Mathias Blad.
"So we thank Kristoffer for the years in the band. It's been a great time we allways will cherish and we assure you all that this has nothing to do with personal matters. We wish all the best for Kriss in the future.
"This kind of thing is about the worst things you can do to a bandmate if you're all friends but in the end, this is not a sand box, it's a band."

Hehehe, gaaf dat Blad weer terug is, ik ben alleen benieuwd hoe ze hem konden over halen weer terug te komen in de band. Zou z'n musical/toneel carriére mislukt zijn of in een dieptepunt zitten of iets dergerlijks?
Ik wil nog even melden dat ik Falconer - Falconer één van de beste debuutalbums is die ik ken. Daarnaast behoort het album tot mijn favoriete metalalbums. Falconer weet in tegenstelling tot alle death en blackmetal folkbands wél het folkaspect goed te brengen (net als Heidevolk trouwens). Ik bedoel: denk maar niet dat men in de Middeleeuwen of in de Oudheid zat te grunten of te krijsen als men ging zangen. Dan komt de bardachtige stem van Mathias Blad daar toch dichter bij in de buurt.
