Ik heb deze band ook ontdekt! Op het moment ben ik erg verslaafd aan Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV Volume One. Wat een heerlijke muziek is dat zeg, maar zijn voorganger In Keeping Secret of Silent Earth: 3 doet het hier ook erg goed.

Hopelijk kan ik ze eens live zien. Ik zie dat ik ze net gemist heb in Rotterdam.

Ik heb nu alle albums van Coheed & Cambria en allemaal zijn ze geweldig. De eerste vind ik eigenlijk het minst. Sinds die cd is zijn zang verbeterd en is de productie ook wel een stuk bombastiser geworden.

Mijn favoriet blijft toch wel Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV, hoewel ik de laatste ook erg sterk vind. Die had wel wat meer tijd nodig.

Nieuw album op komst!

Happy Holidays and all that. We know you have been waiting patiently for Coheed info for 2010, so we hope this fills your hunger for now:

Our new album will be titled, "Year of the Black Rainbow," and is set for release in April 2010...

Our new album will be titled, “Year of the Black Rainbow,” and is set for release in April 2010 and will be followed by a headline tour of the US, and then on to Europe and the UK for festivals and such.

As most of you know, the new album will be the “Origin Story” or “The Prequel,” and likely the final story of the ongoing concept story of “The Amory Wars”

With “Year of the Black Rainbow,” we will be releasing a deluxe package that includes a NOVEL OF THE SAME NAME. Not a graphic novel, but a full 300+page prose novel, which will tell the origins of Coheed and Cambria, and much more. There will be no mystery to this story, you will be able to explore it like never before. Presales will start near the end of December, exact date and pricing to be announced soon.

For the rest of the world, Sony has licensed the rights to Roadrunner Records, who we feel will better make our music available in those territories, and opening up the potential for us to come to countries we rarely or never have been to before. Year of the Black Rainbow will be released in both a standard format and a deluxe edition.

Coheed and Cambria has confirmed April 13 as the release date of Year of the Black Rainbow, its heavily anticipated fifth studio album. The eagerly awaited prequel to “The Amory Wars” tetralogy, Year of the Black Rainbow will be released by Columbia in both a standard format and a deluxe edition including a 352-page Year of the Black Rainbow novel, penned by the band’s Claudio Sanchez and New York Times Bestselling author Peter David.

Year of the Black Rainbow provides the long awaited prequel to the band’s four previous inter-related concept albums — The Second Stage Turbine Blade (2002); In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 (2003); Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness (2005) and Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV, Volume Two: No World for Tomorrow (2007) - which comprise “The Amory Wars,” the conceptual narrative driving the band’s lyrics, penned by Coheed and Cambria frontman Claudio Sanchez. Year Of The Black Rainbow is also likely to be the final installment of the narrative of “The Amory Wars.”

Year of the Black Rainbow is produced by Atticus Ross (Nine Inch Nails, Jane’s Addiction) and Joe Baressi (Queens of the Stone Age, Tool). According to the Sanchez, “They have helped us evolve our sound to be more powerful and dynamic than ever and we think it’s definitely our best work to date.” The new record also features the studio debut of Coheed and Cambria drummer Chris Pennie, who has been playing alongside Sanchez, guitarist Travis Stever and bassist Michael Robert Todd since 2007 and was featured on Neverender: Children of the Fence Edition, the CD/DVD box set documentation of the fall/winter 2008 four-night stands during which the band played its catalogue in its entirety, one album per night, in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and London.

Hmmm, wel even wennen. Maar ik ben sowieso ZEER benieuwd naar het nieuwe album.

Maar na een paar keer luisteren klinkt het toch wel erg lekker en Coheed.
Ik kan iig niet wachten tot deze plaat uit is.

Wat een waanzinnig leuke band! Ik had de naam wel eens voorbij zien komen, maar kende er nog geen muziek van. Zojuist ff een aantal tracks beluisterd op MySpace. Ik hoor invloeden van The Mars Volta en Rush, maar ook van Three (of 3). Kan ik ook iedereen aanbevelen .

daarnet in de trein een stuk van de nieuwe cd geluisterd. Ik heb de vorige gemist geloof ik, maar deze nieuwe klinkt wel weer erg C&C (niet music factory). En dat is niet erg.

Af en toe nog wat experimenteler dan hoe ik ze ken, en wat meer electronica in een nummer. Maar omdat hij op shuffle stond weet ik zo even niet meer welke dat was

De komende dagen moet ik 'm nog een paar keer meer draaien, en toch ook de vorige even opduiken.

Ik hoef ze niet zo nodig te zien, maar die Good Apollo luister ik nog steeds regelmatig. Is gewoon heerlijke muziek op de een of andere manier. Blijft lekker hangen ook.

Leuk dat er hier toch meer mensen zijn die dit waarderen. Ik bedoel, supertoegankelijk is het ook bepaald niet.

Iemand die nieuwe plaat al gehoord? Ik keek er naar uit, maar ik moet tot mijn spijt bekennen dat het een tegenvaller is. Een paar aardige nummers, maar als geheel is het gewoon... saai. Helaas, ik had hier meer van verwacht, zeker met Chris Pennie op drums.

Morgen is het concert van Coheed & Camrbia in de Melkweg, nog mensen die van hier heengaan? Of zijn er mensen in Eindhoven geweest? Ik ben erg benieuwd!

Wat betreft het nieuwe album. Ik vind het weer een erg lekkere Coheed & Cambria plaat geworden. Niet zo sterk als een Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV Volume One, maar ook zeer zeker niet slecht. Mijn favoriete nummers op het moment zijn Here we Juggerare naut en de afsluiter The Black Rainbow. Het is ook wel te merken dat ze een nieuwe drummer hebben, aangezien het drumwerk hier en daar wat drukker is.

Ik zit weer eens in een Coheed & Cambria fase, het rare met deze band is dat alles behoorlijk op elkaar lijkt maar toch niet tot verveling leidt. Geweldige band!

THE AFTERMAN: ASCENSION - ALBUM COVER

Here is the cover for The Afterman: Ascension, in stores October 9th.

The Afterman: Ascension is the sixth studio album by progressive rock band Coheed and Cambria, the first part of a double album, the second part of which is The Afterman: Descension. The band took seven months to record the album between 2011 and 2012, released a live acoustic version of "Sentry the Defiant" in February 2012, and announced a release date of October 9 later that year. The first single will be "Key Entity Extraction I: Domino the Destitute". It is the first Coheed album since Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness to feature Josh Eppard on drums, and the first to feature Zach Cooper on bass.

The deluxe version of the album will be released with a coffee-table book co-written by band member Claudio Sanchez and writer Peter David, intended to give a song-by-song experience of the concept album. The album follows the Amory Wars storyline, and concentrates on the character Sirius Amory.

Zo, de nieuwe plaat is nu ook uit en die draait hier zijn eerste rondje. Eigenlijk weer gewoon Coheed, niet heel veel bijzonders, maar zeker wel weer erg lekker.
