The Shiva Hypothesis borduurt voort op tradities uit de black en s death/thrash metal, maar maakt daarnaast ook gebruik van elementen uit andere genres. Invloeden lopen uiteen van Behemoth, Gorgoroth en oude Sentenced tot Fields of the Nephilim en Huun-Huur-Tuu.
