On a side note: die twee nieuwe Twiztid cd's (Man's Myth en Mutant) zijn ronduit geweldig. Veel beter dan wat ICT de laatste tijd laat horen (The Wraith en Hells Pit). Bij Twiztid hoor ik dat vertrouwde Dark Carnivale oldschool-gevoel terug.

Hmm, ik had bij Hell's pits zeker nog het Dark carnival gevoel. Maar Shangri-la en Hell's pits horen ook af te wijken van de rest. Die 2 albums staan op zichzelf.

Maar jij vindt Mutant dus ook goed? Terwijl het dus geen hip hop album is maar meer rock.

Ja, ik vind het wel gaaf. Twiztid had altijd al wat rock-invloeden natuurlijk. Rock The Dead (op Mostasteless) en We Don't Die (op Freekshow) bijvoorbeeld. Goed dat ze Hiphop en Rock nu op aparte albums zetten. Zoiets had Cypress Hill met Skull & Bones eerder ook al gedaan. Dat bevalt me wel, kun je zelf kiezen.

Volgens mij is Psychopathic er wel mee bezig. Er zit sinds een aantal jaren een kantoor in Londen zodat men makkelijker zaken kan doen met europa en ICP komt weer met een zeer uitgebreide tour naar europa als The Tempest uit is. Dus met een beetje geluk winnen ze wat aan populairiteit zodat ze wat meer zaken kunnen gaan doen hier.

Maar op dit moment is het financieel nog totaal niet aantrekkelijk om mechandise in Europa te gaan verkopen.

ach wees nou eerlijk, ICP is net als Kiss (en niet alleen vanwege de schmink). 4 versies van The Great Milenko, en dat was dus al in 1998. Ja toen hadden ze al goed door dat ze meer verkopen met dit soort marketing.

Tuurlijk, net als Kiss (De heer Simmons is een grote fan van ICP trouwens) heeft ICP een brilliant marketing concept. Maar ze hebben nooit een knieval gemaakt voor een MTV en ze hebben hun muziek ook nooit aangepast. Ze doen alles op hun manier en vullen hun zakken zo lang het kan. En geef ze eens ongelijk. Maar ze zijn dus nooit van hun concept afgestapt om zo meer in het publieke oog te komen en zo dus nog meer geld te verdienen.

Het 4e deel van deze verzamel serie alweer. Allerlei songs die lastig te vinden zijn, nooit op een cd zijn gekomen, zijn geremixt, etc. etc.
D'r staan echt een paar juweeltjes op! Zoals:
Dear ICP, Madhouse, STAAAAAAAALE!!! en Wicked rappers delight.

Ten tweede:
Behind the paint
Het boek dat door Violent J is geschreven als een soort biography van hemzelf en ICP. Zeer interessant voor mensen die van hun muziek houden en die meer over de artiesten achter het hele gebeuren willen weten.
Er wordt echt heel veel uitgelegd. Vooral interessant om te lezen hoe ze aan het hele idee achter ICP (clown-paint en de teksten) zijn gekomen.

Ik had vandaag weer 's m'n ICP cd in de auto opstaan (toch handig, mp3 cd speler, 170 nummers op 1 cd). Op Bizaar Bizzar staan toch ook nog wel wat gave tracks, eigenlijk. Verder kwam ik niet, zo lang was de file middenin Brussel niet.

Tsja, het is allemaal een beetje lastig uit om het allemaal in het kort uit te leggen maar het komt er een beetje op neer dat Shaggy en J vroeger beide helemaal gek waren van Ninja films, Amerikaans worstelen en allerlei andere nerdy dingetjes. En die dingen stoppen ze allemaal in hun teksten.

Maar het hele clown/dark carnival idee komt puur van J. Hij had ooit eens een serie dromen/nachtmerries die bleven hangen en daar heeft hij op creatieve wijze inspiratie uit heeft geput. En zo heeft hij het concept achter ICP bedacht.
