BLACK CRUCIFIXION - FAUSTIAN DREAM CD
Black Crucifixion - Faustian Dream CD
After releasing two mini albums ”The Fallen One of Flames” (1992) and ”Promethean Gift” (1993) Black Crucifixion had grown tired of black metal. These Finnish pioneers of dark metal started to create music with more variance and began the recordings for their debut full length album “Faustian Dream” in 1996. The album was never released, until now, after ten years it has been finalised and will finally come out on SoulSeller Records (NORTH & SOUTH AMERICAN RELEASE THROUGH PARAGON RECORDS).
The album has nine tracks that display the darkest melodies and the most northern metal ever released.

Review - Darkthrone fans probably loved some of Black Crucifixion earlier works.
I know I enjoyed their last effort "The Fallen Ones of Flames" with its extreme black metal roots showing through. "Faustian Dream" is sort of darkened black metal with gothic metal intertwined, thick with clean vocals by Fornicator who sounds like a Peter Steele (Type O Negative) clone. Their songs are rich in atmospheric ambience that is both gripping and stirring, reaching deep into your inner vortex to give your organs a good scare. Tiamat and Celtic Frost fans will rejoice in this liver punch of a dark metal album.

Black Crucifixion isn't the screeching black metal I'd anticipated. No, while
"Faustian Dreams" inhabits the same sort of darkness, its musical approach is a little different. Lush guitar work, gothic melodies and deep, delicious male vox combine for music that is truly moody and dark and utterly listenable thanks to the beauty of the songwriting. Besides the songwriting, the production is also sweet. Intelligence and gorgeous aural manifestations make this one of the year's watchworthy metal albums.

Nine tracks that display the darkest melodies and most northern metal ever released.
"It has been said that "Faustian Dream" combines the aggressiveness of Satyricon with the melodic quality of Katatonia. Vocalist Forn's unique output has only been equalled by Celtic Frost's Tomas Gabriel Warrior."
