Manowar komt met een live-cd! 6 juli moet Gods Of War Live in de winkels liggen. De tracklist zal hetzelfde zijn als de set die ze speelden tijdens hun meest recente cd. Dus met nummers als The Oath, Mountains, Warriors Of The World etc. De albumcover is te zien op www.manowar.com en hij is opvallend: er staan geen krijgers met ontblote torso's en naakte vrouwen op!

Ik moet wederom even bevestigen dat Sign Of The Hammer samen met Into Glory Ride verreweg de beste plaat is die ze ooit hebben gemaakt! Overigens las ik laatst ergens dat ze hem toentertijd in de pers afkraakten omdat de productie slecht zou zijn. Ik zie persoonlijk alleen niet in wat er slecht aan de productie is

Nou, ik heb Gods of War nu al een hele tijd in huis, en ik moet nog steeds zeggen dat ik het een erg sterke plaat vind.

Afzonderlijk zijn de nummers misschien een tikje minder sterk dan op een Kings of Metal, maar er zit toch genoeg genietbaars bij.

Maar, als geheel is het album echt fenomenaal! Het luisters echt lekker weg, en als je er de tijd voor neemt halen de klassieke stukken de vaart er niet uit maar zijn het juist prachtige aanvullingen. Kortom: een voor mijn jaarlijstje.

En voor de mensen die de oude Manowarnummers gaver vinden en dit niet trekken: een nummer als Dark Avenger is ook gedeeltelijk soft om het tot een soort verhaal te smeden en daar hoor ik vrij weinig geklaag over. Hetzelfde geldt voor Defender.

Heb daarstraks ook nog wat Manowar nummers geluisterd. Onder andere The Crown and the Ring. Wat een prachtig kalm nummer is me dat toch! Net als Master of the Wind.

Als ze nou is flink gingen toeren of is nieuwe cd's uit brachten !

Vind hun forum trouwens er ook niet op vooruit gegaan sinds Marjo niet meer voor MCM werkt. Wat een klerezooi zeg. Als je nieuws wilt vinden moet je echt heel veel onzin door spitten. Als je al een account krijgt tegenwoordig daar. Snap trouwens sowieso niet dat MCM uberhaupt nog bestaat. Al die bands die daar onder het label zitten toeren nooit en brengen niet tot nauwelijks materiaal uit. Op die DVD's na dan. Maar die heb ik nu ook wel gezien

Naar de DVD van het Magic Circle Festival ben ik wel nieuwsgierig, aangezien ik er de tweede dag zelf bij was en nog geen DVD van Manowar heb. Wel jammer dat er geen clips van Gamma Ray op zullen staan, maar dat was te verwachten (aangezien die band niet op het MCM label zit en gedurende het hele concert geluidsproblemen had).

Ook ben ik benieuwd wat de tickets gaan kosten voor de tweede editie van het Magic Circle Festival. Het zal wel geen 10 euro per dag meer zijn.

Gaaf inderdaad, en hij wordt hier ook wel aangeschft, maar jammer dat Manowar's set er niet helemaal opstaat.

After the incredible success of the first-ever Magic Circle Festival in 2007, with an attendance of over 25,000 fans, Magic Circle Music and MANOWAR are pleased to announce a bigger, better and of course louder Magic Circle Festival in 2008.

Never content to be simply “good enough”, MANOWAR and Magic Circle Music fully intend to make this year’s festival twice as good as the original. While the original festival lasted two days, the 2008 edition, will last a full four days, starting on Wednesday and continuing through Saturday night. The event will take place amidst vast campgrounds so that fans can be there from start to finish.

Beginning on Wednesday July 9th at 12:00 noon, a true heavy metal fan - the reigning “Mr. Metal” Udo Sapper - will break the chains to the campground in a welcoming ceremony that will open the festival campgrounds to all the fans of true metal. This is when the party will begin. While fans begin to enter the campground and unpack, music will be heard from a stage set up in the campground, as bands from all around the world will compete in a “Battle Of The Metal Bands Contest”. The winning band will play on the main festival stage and be awarded with a recording contract from Magic Circle Music. Fans can submit their band videos for judging through www.youtube.com with more details forthcoming.

From that point on, 20,000 free beers will be given away to fans in attendance.

Closing the day’s festivities that evening will be a torch lit ceremony where the Viking ship that appeared onstage during the Demons, Dragons and Warriors tour and was used during last year’s festival will be completely burned and sent to Valhalla.

On Thursday, Mr. Metal will lead the legions of the metal army to open the main festival grounds to the public as he runs through the festival ground - torch in hand - on his way to the stage tower that will light the eternal flame of metal, which will burn atop the stage for the length of the festival. Then, all fans can meet, hang out and get autographs from MANOWAR, HolyHell and other bands that will play the festival.

Later that evening, everyone will be able to attend the sound check that will give fans a chance to preview the next two days of metal devastation. And at 12:00 midnight, there will be an open air screening of the long-awaited new MANOWAR DVD, ‘Hell On Earth Part 5’ which will be released that same day.

Where the original festival saw two custom-built chopper motorcycles given away, in 2008, four totally unique, custom-built choppers - personally owned and used by MANOWAR - will be given away to lucky fans; These are the exact same bikes that have adorned the pages of every major rock and biker magazine the world over.

The year 2008 will mark the 20th anniversary of the classic MANOWAR album “Kings Of Metal”. In the words of Joey DeMaio “It’s a party and you’re all invited to celebrate”. In order to commemorate this momentous occasion, Magic Circle Music will once again construct one of the largest stages in Germany. On this massive stage, MANOWAR will perform their first six albums in their entirety.

On Friday night, the Metal Kings will perform “Battle Hymns”, “Into Glory Ride” and “Hail To England”. On Saturday “Sign Of The Hammer”, “Fighting The World” and finally “Kings Of Metal” will all be played from start to finish. This set will also feature a bombastic first-time rendition of “The Crown And The Ring (Lament Of The Kings)”, which will feature the original choir and orchestral performance that has never been seen before.

All of this will only cost $115.00 (80 EUR).
Imagine a 4-day festival for less than the price of a regular concert ticket. But that is not all. This admission fee will also include parking and camping.

Lijkt me wel weer gaaf, was afgelopen keer ook super. Beetje koud in de auto 's nachts maar wel heel leuk gehad.

Hoe zijn de faciliteiten op dat festival? Beetje normale camping en voedsel etc?

Ik vond het erg goed geregeld moet ik zeggen! Meer dan genoeg wc's, goed eten, genoeg parkeerruimte. Verder het statiegeld op bekers systeem zoals op Wacken, tegen de zooi. En het achterste gedeelte van het terrein is beton, dus niet overal klei en modder als het regent.

Camping kan ik alleen niks over zeggen.

Camping was ook goed, waren genoeg wc/douches en wasruimtes allemaal rubber tegels voor de modder. Was een ontbijt tent op de camping met worst een zuurkool maar ook broodjes kaas worst koffie etc.

's nachts kon je mee genieten van het metalcafe wat op het festivalterrein stond. Liep dag en nacht bewaking rond.

Hahaha, wat een heerlijk over-the-top nieuwsbericht. Ze doen alsof het de fucking olympische spelen zijn. Ik was er vorig jaar van donderdag tot en met zaterdag. Donderdag zaten we met in totaal misschien 100 man op de camping. Vrijdag waren er maximaal 7500 man op de eerste festivaldag en zaterdag was het veel drukker met rond de 25.000 man. Prima geregeld allemaal, goeie sfeer ook!

Voor komend jaar vraag ik me af waarom er 4 dagen zijn, maar alleen 2 dagen met echte bands? Waarschijnlijk weten ze zelf de helft nog niet en houden ze veel opties open om die woensdag en donderdag nog in te vullen. De entreeprijs is helaas verviervoudigd, maar ja dat was te verwachten. Wel vreemd dat ze beweren dat je voor 80 euro normaal naar een concert gaat. Een concert van Led Zeppelin of The Stones zeker?
