Last year the news about the very first metal holidays in European festival history shook the scene like a hurricane. All in search of something more, something new and something different finally found their new favorite location for their very special heavy metal vacation.

Ladies and gentlemen, vampires and zombies, we are proud to inform you about the second edition of METALCAMP HOLIDAYS! So all who already enjoyed a week of hell in paradise and all who are about to experience it for the very first time, take a deep breath and prepare yourself for the second edition of real metal vacation.

Imagine yourself head-banging in the cool blue river, with a cocktail in one hand and beer in the other, surrounded with metal brothers and beautiful chicks from all over the world… this is what we call metal vacation!

Underground bands are always welcome at METALCAMP festival, so if you think your band should play at METALCAMP holidays 2008, don’t wait and apply for the Second stage - the application form will be online soon at www.metalcamp.com.

METALCAMP HOLIDAYS 08 will happen between 3rd and 9th of July 2008.
This will be the very special year for the festival because we will be celebrating the 5th anniversary of METALCAMP festival. You don’t have to come for all 7 days, but you will anyhow change your mind when you get there.


FIRST CONFIRMED ACTS FOR METALCAMP08 ARE:

CELTIC FROST
We are just fascinated to host one of the pioneers of European extreme metal movement, Tom Warrior and his multi respected band Celtic Frost.This will be the first performance of Celtic Frost at Metalcamp festival and first appearance in Slovenia ever.

MINISTRY
The godfathers of industrial metal scene Al Jourgensen and his mega band MINISTRY will honour the Metalcamp’s Main Stage. This will be a unique performance because they announced the summer festival tour as the last in their lifetime and Metalcamp show as one of the last shows for ever.

BEHEMOTH
We wanted Behemoth to play Metalcamp in previous years already, but they were always preoccupied or touring somewhere else. Finally we can announce the best extreme metal act from Poland of all times!

RAGE
It’s the band that everyone knows and likes, so it was time for Rage to get a spot at Metalcamp stage. Rage never played in Slovenia before and we are sure that they will receive all the support from all power heavy metal-heads that wait for them for all these years.

KATAKLYSM
Is like our home band. It’s one of the best death metal bands in the scene, and that’s simply why they play so often. They will be releasing the new album that will be presented at Metalcamp festival.

WINTERSUN
This will be the second time for Wintersun to play Metalcamp festival and if you remember their last performance you know that this is one of the most talented bands at the moment. They should release a new, long awaited album till their Metalcamp performance for sure.

TANKARD
The old school German beer drinkers and thrashers Tankard will take over the party at Metalcamp’s Main Stage. Their show will be fun for sure. Many Metalcamp fans wait exactly for Tankard type of party…get absolutely wasted.

HEAVEN SHALL BURN
It was just necessary to have HSB again this year. This band kicks ass, and you won’t regret seeing them live at METALCAMP festival 2008.

BRAINSTORM
Considering the situation with the current power metal scene in Europe, we can easily say Brainstorm is at the top position of progressive power heavy metal scale and their performance at METALCAMP festival 2008 is just necessary.

SKYFORGER
One of the acts that we wanted to see at Metalcamp stage for some time and finally we can announce this great Latvian folk/ pagan act.


Finish CATAMENIA, DARK FORTRESS from Germany and Austrian PERSIHING MANKIND will also present themselves at METALCAMP 2008.

POWER & MELODY CONFIRMED FOR METALCAMP 08: HELLOWEEN & MYSTIC PROPHECY


You love it hard, but of course heartily? With a mass of melody, dedication to detail, but also enough dynamit? So we certainly can refine your headbanger’s holidays 2008 with the top-rated German speed- and power metal band HELLOWEEN. These metal gods, whose next opus “Gambling With The Devil” is already prepared to hit the scene, will care for the ideal sound-scenery adequate to the bang- and relax-atmosphere of the festival and charm the fans with traditional, passionate hymns.

Fantastisch festival man! De dag na het festival moet je je caravan planten op de enige camping van het dorpje Trnvo ob Soci. Erg relaxte camping aan een heldere groenblauwe rivier in de bergen. Dagje langs de rivier rondhangen en mn kater en vermoeidheid van het festival was helemaal weg.

Echt druk is het ginder niet. Vorig jaar zo'n 10.000 bezoekers. Ik heb tijdens geen enkel moment op het festival me geërgerd aan drukte.
Die was er gewoon niet.
