Update van het nieuwe album "Emission Phase"
Releasedatum is nu officieel: 30 April!

Deze week en volgende week nog mixen/masteren....

Finally, all recordings are finished for the new album. I finished the torturing vocal sessions this saturday night...took me quite some effort and dedication, but the result is amazing...these are definitely the best vocal lines and most brutal voice I have ever recorded, very pleased with it!
You can also expect a few surprises in the vocals, because I also did some occasional clean singing this time. But don't worry, it's all functional

No cheesy mallcore singing...

Yesterday Mike and I recorded some extra acoustic guitars and corrected some leads at the SplitSecondSound headquarters in Tilburg, so we're done now!

Leute!!!

Zaterdag 21 april releaseparty in Db's Utrecht! We gaan vieren dat het album zo vreselijk VET is geworden, en omdat we binnenkort 10 jaar bestaan!

Uitnodigingen worden nog verstuurd aan de mensen van de 'zines e.d. Maar als er andere mensen zin hebben om exclusief te komen luisteren naar het nieuwe album "Emission Phase" onder het genot van een pilsje en een hapje, mail ons dan op info@detonation.nl, iedereen is welkom!

Inmiddels staat nog een nummer van het nieuwe album online op MySpace en is de CD te bestellen via de band.

Slechts 12 euro inclusief verzending binnen NL, voor België 1 euro meer. PayPal naar info(at)detonation.nl of via bank (details op detonation.nl). Als je een dezer dagen bestelt, heb je de CD mogelijk al vóór de officiële release op 30 april in huis! Zaterdagmorgen vroeg vertrekt de band voor een tour naar Engeland.

Detonation bestaat 10 jaar! Dat zal niet onopgemerkt voorbij gaan.

O.a. d.m.v. een special 10th anniversary optreden op vrijdag 26 oktober in dB's, Utrecht. Er wordt een speciale, extra lange set gespeeld met oude nummers die al heel lang (of nooit) live zijn gespeeld, enkele covers, gastoptredens etc. Kortom, BE THERE!

It was in the summer of 1997 Koen, Mike and Thomas rehearsed together for the first time. In the year that followed they only rehearsed about once a month, nevertheless writing a large number of songs, in a much more black metal-ish style than nowadays. One year later, Otto joined on bass. The first show was done at the end of 1998, so were the first recordings, and the band name was changed into Detonation. The rest is history.

Now it's 2007, and we can look back on 10 years of great fun, horrible hangovers, over 200 shows, several tours, 2 Mini-CD's, 3 full-length albums, broken equipment, sleepless nights, alcoholic frenzies, empty venues, packed venues, failing cars, near-death experiences and so on. Still going strong with the original band members, and more motivated than ever to tour and play as much as we can and create music the best we can.

To celebrate, we're doing a special show on the 26th of October in dB's, in our home town Utrecht. We'll be playing the longest set we've ever done, performing songs we haven't played live in ages, having some special guests on stage, and doing a number of covers. It's going to be lots and lots of fun, and it's an evening you do not want to miss, so be there!

We'd also like to take the opportunity to thank YOU for supporting us. Obviously it's impossible for a band to survive without people buying our CD's and merch, coming to our shows, and spreading the word about us. Plus having a few beers with you after the show is always great as well! So a big THANK YOU to all of you, we much appreciate all your support. To show our appreciation we've issued three contests:

Tied veur een update!

Eind deze maand zal Detonation als eerste Nederlandse (Metal) band ooit optreden in India. Op vrijdag 22 februari zal de band het Avalanche festival in Delhi headlinen. Avalanche is onderdeel van een groter cultureel festival genaamd Moksha, zie http://moksha08.com.

Geen idee, de Babylon site vermeld hier niks over, alleen dát er een concert is, maar niet eens welke bands..

Neem aan dat er nog wel minimaal 1 band speelt naast Detonation, misschien weet de heer Frituurmaster meer?

Ik ben ook benieuwd wat het wordt. Dat eerste festival waar we spelen komt als het goed is half Delhi naar toe, dus gaaf wordt het vast wel.

DETONATION ADD NEW GUITARIST

After playing together in the same line-up for over 10 years, Dutch melodic thrashers Detonation are now making their first ever line-up change.

The band has welcomed Danny Tunker (also Fuelblooded, The Saturnine, neither of which he is quitting btw) to the ranks to handle the guitar. This automatically means that co-founder Koen Romeijn (Guitar/Vocals) will lay down his guitar within Detonation, and that he will be focusing on the vocals only from this point on. The upcoming shows in March and April, Koen will still be doing double duties, but from May on all shows will be done as a 5-piece!

Commented vocalist Koen Romeijn:
We all felt the need for a change within Detonation, and I had been thinking about focusing on the vocals for quite some time now, so I decided to bring in my idea to the group. Mike, Otto and Thomas were all quite shocked that this decision came from me, but they were all positively surprised. Danny, besides being one of our closest friends, is easily one of the best guitar players in the Netherlands, and we all believe that he is the only person suitable for the job. So from now on, he will be handling my guitar parts, and I will start focusing my energy on the vocals, which without doubt will be a positive change for our live shows and performance and most important; our future albums! As for the creative aspect, I will still function as one of the songwriters for Detonation, as I have been doing since the beginning of this band, so no worries for the die-hard Detonation fans haha! I personally can't wait for Danny to join us on stage and in the writing process of our upcoming 4th album!

Detonation have been among my favourite bands for years, even before I first met them while touring the UK with Fuelblooded. We immediately hit it off on a personal level. Fast forward 2 years and I was very surprised and honoured to be asked to join them. I know this must've been a tough decision, but thanks for giving me this chance guys! Let's do this!

DETONATION Parts Ways With Drummer THOMAS KALKSMA - May 2, 2008

Dutch death/thrash metal act DETONATION has parted ways with drummer Thomas Kalksma. Kalksma was one of the original founders of the band and had been part of DETONATION for over ten years.

Commented the band: "It was a very hard decision to make, but in the end both Thomas and the band agreed it would be better to part ways. We've had differences of opinion on the future of DETONATION and these differences eventually were too strong to overcome. There are no hard feelings mutually and DETONATION wish Thomas all the best for his future musical career."

Thomas added: "I regret and feel very glad simultaneously to be leaving DETONATION. After a lot of big ups and downs in this band, I feel that the above-mentioned differences in opinion took away my passion for this band. Despite the fact that I've been jamming with Koen even before DETONATION started, and the fact that I've put alot of effort in this band, I felt a huge need for change during the past months. Therefore I'll move forward and will focus on my other musical activities. I'm also open to interesting offers. I want to thank all bookers, promoters, media and festivalorganisers and most importantly all FANS I have contact with. You are great and you haven't seen the last of me."

DETONATION will continue writing material for its fourth studio album. However, the band is now in search for a new drummer. If you have the skills, determination and personality the group is looking for, contact DETONATION via info [at] detonation.nl.

Detonation is nog steeds op zoek naar een vaste drummer! We zijn op dit moment wel bezig met een sessie drummer zodat we alle shows kunnen doen die op dit moment gepland staan, maar het is wel de bedoeling dat we uiteindelijk weer aan de slag gaan met een vast bandlid achter de kit!

Als je onze nieuwe drummer wil worden, dan moet je in ieder geval:

- rete strak drummen
- getalenteerd zijn en een groot bereik hebben op je kit.
- tering snel kunnen blasten
- ervaring hebben met live spelen/touren
- double bass volledig onder controle hebben
- je polka beats kunnen double timen op je hi-hat/ride
- betrouwbaar zijn en in staat om minimaal 1x per week te repeteren.
- een relaxte gast zijn
- het niet erg vinden om veel te spelen/touren/onderweg te zijn
- liefst eigen vervoer hebben
(- goed kunnen zuipen is ook een pré trouwens )

Eindelijk weer eens wat nieuws te melden.

Hey folks,

This weekend, Michiel (a.k.a. 'Plicht') will kick off the pre-production of our 4th studio album. He's got the weekend scheduled to record all the drum tracks for 9 new, brutal songs. In the producers' chair we have our good friend Harry van Breda (I-Chaos).

After this, Michiel will start touring across the world with God Dethroned until mid November. So in the meantime, we will work on the recordings, and get this thing rolling again. Can't wait to get into that whole recording process again, it's been almost 3 years since we recorded 'Emission Phase', so it's about time goddamnit!

So what can I tell you about the new stuff? Well, first of all it's fucking brutal! You could say that we changed our sound into something new. It still has Detonation written all over it, but this stuff is way more intense, faster, more metal and just better sounding than before. Michiel's drums are sick, Mike's riffs even sicker, and my vocals the sickest I have ever produced haha!

Some of the songtitles are 'Feeding on the Madness', 'Ruptured', 'Insults to my Heritage' and 'The thirst to Slaughter'. Stay tuned for more news!

Finally! The new album is finished!

We have set 'Reprisal' as the title for our 4th full length album. Check out the cover artwork below (made by Kevin Storm).

We're very pleased with the outcome of this CD, it's heavier than anything we've done in the past, and the songs also feel more personal and in your face. Our new band mates Michiel and Danny also put their mark on it, and both did an excellent job on 'Reprisal'.

We have uploaded the song 'There is no turning Back' for you guys to check out. But as always, it's difficult to capture the whole albums' vibe with just 1 song. But anyway, check it out and let us know what you think!
