Als jullie net zo'n dichtgetimmerd contract hebben afgesloten met John Cyriis als het Sweden Rock Festival, zodat de beste man er met geen mogelijkheid onderuit kan, dan wil ik wel een kaartje kopen/reserveren. Anders heb ik er een hard hoofd in dat het optreden van S.E.T.I. daadwerkelijk doorgang vindt. Maar ook zonder Cyriis is het een leuke line-up, dat dan weer wel.

Ik ken John al jaren en heb al ruim 10 jaar regelmatig contact met hem; hij heeft me op het hart gedrukt dat hij ZEKER komt! Meer kan ik ook niet beloven natuurlijk; iedere band kan op het laatste cancellen of vreemde eisen gaan stellen die realiseerbaar zijn.

De entree zal trouwens waarschijnlijk € 12,50 zijn voor de zaterdag maar dat hangt nog een beetje van af of er een extra headliner bij komt. Voor de thrashvrijdag is de entree € 7,50

Crustacean is a 4-piece Thrash metal band that hails from the metalcity Tilburg in the Netherlands. They play energetic and infectious oldschool thrash that is a must see for every neck shredding and war dancing metalhead around the globe. They rely on a wicked rhythm-tandem that blasts out the tightest of beats and two metalizing guitar wizards that conjure up the most maniacal of riffs. The band exists since 1989 and lately released their third full length album in June 2011 on XTREEM MUSIC Records. "Greed Tyranny & Sodomy": a well-produced album containing ten intense, relentless and cunning tracks filled with killer riffs and razor-sharp lyrics. Crustacean is formed by the same members that bring you the one and only Dutch Slayer Cover Band (SCB)

- X-TINXION (NL, female fronted thrash metal, winner of the Dutch Wacken Battle)
X-TINXION was brought to existence in the year 2003. Since then, it has grown to become a thrash metal band with a distinct sound and on-stage-appearance.
After releasing the demo CD "Twisting the Knife", a lot of positive reviews have been written about it by critics of various magazines and E-zines. As a result X-Tinxion has played a variety of gigs at different venues, festivals, including “Borstrock” and “Occultfest”, “Women in Rock” and has been given a chance to participate in renowned metal competitions, such as the “Metal Bash” and the “Wacken Metal Battle (which they won)”. In August they played the W.E.T. stage of the mighty Wacken festival.

- BLIKSEM (Belgium; female fronted thrash metal)
Bliksem is a female fronted thrash band from Belgium that exists since 2007. Singer Peggy Meeussen is suited with a raw voice but can vary very good between dark en screamy vocals. The band subscribes their music as a mix of thrash, stoner and rock with some small prog elements. But luckily it’s mostly thrash!! This band is playing more and more gigs and is very hot at the moment by bookers! Maybe one of the last chances to see this band is such a small venue!

- DEAD HEAD (NL, Legendary Dutch thrash metal!!)
Dead Head was formed in April 1989 in Kampen, The Netherlands. The four original members Tom van Dijk (bass, vocals), Robbie Woning (guitar), Ronnie van der Wey (guitar), and Hans Spijker (drums), decided to form a band and to become the most intense and brutal thrash-metal band Europe ever had seen. In the fine tradition of bands like Dark Angel, Kreator and Sadus they distilled their own way to compose songs and to make a solid impact on stage by pounding out their songs as if every minute could be the last. Especially the outrageous drum-style of Spijker, the psychotic double guitar-riffs combined with Tom's penetrating screaming gave the band a well-earned status in the metal-scene of those days. A countless number of performances throughout most of Europe sustained this, and made the band a well kept secret in the metal scene all over the world. The latest album 'Depression Tank' was released by Displeased Records on Feb 16th 2009. On this album the band is introducing new singer/bass player Ralph de Boer. Be there because the band isn’t doing that much shows anymore the last few years!

- RAIN (Italy, Classic Metal since 1980!)
Rain was already formed in 1980 and finds his definitive line up in 1998 with Alessandro Tronconi (vocals), Luciano Tattini (rhythm guitar), Alessio AMOS Amorati (lead guitar), Gianni GINO Zenari (bass), Andrea MARIO Baldi (drums). The band plays great true metal played with good musicianship and a very good new (Il Biondi) frontman! The band toured Europe as support of Blaze Bayley in 2009 (also in 013 venue) and in 2010 they supported W.A.S.P. on their US tour! Last year the band released a DVD “COME BACK ALIVE” which gives a good idea of their whole career. If you're into true metal in the vein of bands like Saxon, Iron Maiden and other NWOBHM acts; check them out!

FIREFORCE is the name of the band that emerged from the ashes of the Belgian Metal band DOUBLE DIAMOND. FIREFORCE became well-known in the underground scene for their 2009 EP “Moonlight Lady”. Their debut album “March On” is received very well by the metal press! The twelve songs on the album are composed with solid riff structures, an excellent drum baseline & authentically metal vocals. Blood RedSkies is the new band of Ronnie Stixx (ex-Vicious Rumors, ex-Shadowkeep) and ex- Phantom X guitar player Dave Harvey. The band is busy with recording their debut album which will be released in the fall of 2011. This is the 3rd time Ronnie will play at a MMMeeting after his shows with Divine Ruins (2007) & Vicious Rumors (2008). Everybody who was witness of both shows knows what an incredible singer Ronnie is. Be prepared for another great show!

One of the ultimate dreams of MMMeeting was to confirm Agent Steel WITH John Cyriis. Well it never happened due to troubles between the band members. Luckily MMM could convince the most important AS member John Cyriis to play MMMeeting 5 with his new band S.E.T.I. After the promotion of the show on the internet other festivals took their chance to book the band before the MMM show. The band played the Headbangers Open Air festival late July and did an incredible job! For all those that where curious about John’s singer capacities after all these years; he DID hit all the high notes easily!!! Look out for this incredible new band packed with nearly only oldschool Agent Steel songs! You won’t be disappointed!! John Cyriis is BACK !!!!!

- TOKYO BLADE (UK, NWOBHM Pioneers in nearly original line-up!!)
The Blade is back! Pioneers of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, Tokyo Blade recently presented their new album entitled “Thousand Men Strong“. The 2011 Tokyo Blade line-up includes four of the five original members, Andy Boulton (guitar), Andy Wrighton (bass), John Wiggins (guitar) and Steve Pierce (drums) and is completed by powerhouse vocalist Nicolaj Ruhnow.
The band is most well-known for their legendary 1984's 'Night Of The Blade' album and the tours they did around that period. Their new album is produced by Grammy-nominated producer Chris Tsangarides (Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy, Y&T, Anvil) and it contains nine brand new tracks plus a reworking of the anthemic title track from the aforementioned 'Night Of The Blade'.
Newcomer Nicolaj Ruhnow (Domain) is an excellent singer and a VERY wise choice for the vocal spot! He has that typical sound that not every vocalist has to replace original vocalist Alan Marsh. Hope you will take the chance to see this legendary band live (again!!).

Pity but due to internal problems within 2 bands both DEADHEAD and BLOOD REDSKIES had to cancel their appearances during the last few weeks ;-(
Luckily I was able to find subsitutes!!


On Friday (14/11) we have a new line-up:

NO S.E.T.I. on MMM5!! Official statement;

Due to the fact that we couldn’t handle the NEVER-ENDING request of S.E.T.I.'s demands we decided to remove the band from the MMM5 billing!!!

I’m really disappointed because it yielded me, as one of the biggest John Cyriis fans ever in this Universe, the most nervous months of my entire life!!
...
There will be no replacement for the “band” S.E.T.I. and we move on to next weekend with the following line-up:

Hi All !!

Mario's Metal Meeting 5 was again a BLAST!!!!

I want to thank every fan that showed up on one or even on both evenings; the awesome Little Devil staff and ofcourse all the bands that played last weekend!!

After all the cancellations and SETI bullshit it was the best edition so far with a great audience (80-100) on Friday and a fullpacked (130-150) Saturday evening!!

The bullshit of the last few months made me decide to give up doing a 6th edition but after all the great words, reviews and happy faces I may turn my decision
So just lets wait and see what happens in 2012!!!!
