maar inmiddels zijn uit die assen MIDDIAN ontstaan, op einde van de maand komt het debuut op Metalblade records uit!

Ik verwacht de plaat binnenkort.

ken yob niet en middian ook niet, ik heb zojuist op myspace alle vier de nummers van middian geluisterd en het klinkt echt vet.

ik vin dhet lijken op Agalloch, waarschijnlijk wel bekend hier. Erg goede muziek binnenkort eens wat meer van downloaden en daarna misschien iets van aanschaffen.

Aangezien ik Yob helemaal geweldig vind heb ik Middian ook maar eens gechecked. Maar dat viel me toch tegen. Het klinkt allemaal wel goed maar het weet me lang niet zo te grijpen als Yob dat deed. Het klinkt ook lang niet meer zo uniek. Middian heeft de potentie zeker in huis om een grote band te gaan worden maar de status van Yob halen ze op hun debuut bij lange na niet.

hmmz, ik vind het een geweldig album

duurde wel even voor ik het echt bijzonder ging vinden, de laatste twee songs vind ik vooral machtig nu

RIP Middian

So, we had a hell of a time finding a name. When
Middian was suggested, we did a search and found
nothing out there. So we went ahead and called ourselves
Middian.
However, in October, we received a cease and desist demand from
Midian of Milwaukee, LLC. After checking our options,
we have found ourselves with no choice but to comply
with the demand.
So, Middian no longer exists. We have also been
dropped from the Metal Blade roster as a result of
this litigation, being unable to sell our album Age Eternal
ever again as well.
The three of us are still going to be playing music
together. It just isn't going to be Middian anymore.
We do not know what it is going to be called at this
point. But we are still really into
playing music with each other.
Lots of folks were really good to us during the course
of our existence and we really appreciate it.
Please keep an eye out for us. Hopefully, you'll be
hearing from us very soon.
We are too overwhelmed with the situation to respond
to e-mails regarding this, so don’t take offense if we don’t reply.
Trust that we are grateful for people’s love and support
and ours is with you.

Het zit ome Scheidt ook niet echt mee in zijn muzikale avonturen als ik het allemaal zo eens lees. Eerst YOB, nu dit. Vaag verhaal wel dat Metalblade ze nu gelijk dropt..

Age Eternal is trouwens een prima plaat.

MIDDIAN Calls It Quits; YOB Reformation In The Works - Aug. 28, 2008
AGE ETERNAL (formerly MIDDIAN), the band featuring former YOB leader Mike Scheidt, has issued the following update:

"AGE ETERNAL (MIDDIAN) is fucking dead.

"Our lawsuit [involving a Milwaukee-based band called MIDIAN over the use of the MIDDIAN name] is finally coming to a close. It has been a hard year, and we could not have done it without the support of the metal community world wide and the time and money people donated to our cause. We are eternally in your debt.

"Sadly, the lawsuit came with a high cost to us personally and interpersonally. Scott Headrick is quitting the band and moving. Mike S felt he needed to back off from touring due to family and work/lack of work issues, cutting his touring commitment from 60-70 shows a year to a handful of shows, mostly local to the West Coast, for an indefinite amount of time, maybe permanently.

"This extreme change in direction, coupled with the immense stress of our lawsuit and inner conflicts in the band resulted in Scott's decision to move on with his life. Scott Headrick is the highest caliber of person. We mourn his loss, and support his need to take care of himself.

"We are very sad to share this news about AGE ETERNAL, but are confident that it must and will open the doors for new music creation and growth.

"Will Lindsay and Mike S will continue to write music with the goal of recording and doing some shows, under another name, as a new band and not AGE ETERNAL. And with Will's now full-time commitment playing guitar with the immaculate WOLVES IN THE THRONEROOM, people should be expecting to see him in their hometown in the USA and abroad very soon.

"News regarding the reformation of YOB, including a small number of shows and a new recording, shall be announced officially soon.

"Once again, we cannot thank the metal community and people who donated their money and time enough. We feel extremely fortunate to be a part of such a quality group of people, and we will pay your kindness and generosity forward."

Goed nieuws! Ik vond Yob altijd geweldig maar met Middian kon ik niet zoveel. Ik miste de Trouble-achtige stem.

The great cessation is gelekt.

Ik heb intussen een paar nummers gehoord en hij bevalt me erg goed. Sterker nog, hij bevalt me beter dan The illusion of motion. Het nieuwe album is een stuk donkerder en minder stoner dan zijn voorganger.

Dit gaat zeker aangeschaft worden.

Wist niet eens dat die lui weer bij elkaar waren. Het enige album dat ik ken is The Unreal Never Lived en dat is toch wel een leuk albumpje. Ben benieuwd.

De laatste tijd Atma eens beluisterd van deze band. Klinkt allemaal wel aardig. Goede mix van death/doom met wat klassieke stukken en cleane vocalen. Is het oudere werk te vergelijken met Atma?

Death/doom is eerlijk gezegd nog nooit in me op gekomen bij het beluisteren van deze band... Al wijkt Atma wel ietwat af van de rest. De vorige platen zijn meer en meer stoner/doom. Wel een van de beste bands in het genre, naar mijn mening.

Atma had me toch niet meteen te pakken, maar doet het hier ondertussen wel erg goed. De oudere platen zijn toch wel wat zwaarder, ook qua productie.

De laatste tijd Atma eens beluisterd van deze band. Klinkt allemaal wel aardig. Goede mix van death/doom met wat klassieke stukken en cleane vocalen. Is het oudere werk te vergelijken met Atma?

Check The Unreal Never Lived eens, naar mijn idee de beste Yob plaat.
