Occultus Insanus Damnatus is de titel van het nieuwe album van Insanity Reigns Supreme dat uitkomt op 20 oktober. Dit album wordt uitgebracht door Shiver Records.
Occultus Insanus Damnatus werd opgenomen in Andy Classens' Stage One studio in Duitsland (Belphegor, Legion of The Damned, Krisiun,...). Deze samenwerking resulteerde in een album met een extreme brutale sound.
Voor het Artwork deed de band beroep op niemand minder dan Seth Siro Anton (Moonspell, Belphegor, Exodus, ...).
The Artist himself zei het volgende over deze samenwerking: "“Whilst working on this project, my inspiration was at it’s fullest. This has resulted in something truly dark and sinister. It is without a doubt one of the best artworks I have ever done.”

Ik heb op Fortarock het album Occultus Insanus Damnatus van deze gasten op de kop getikt. Ik had er goede verhalen over gehoord dus ik heb hem maar meegenomen.
En daar heb ik ZEKER geen spijt van gehad.
Uiterst jammer en volledig onterecht dat je maar zo weinig hoort over dit album. Dit is namelijk een zeer lekkere mix tussen doom en old school death metal.
De logge riffs en de diepe grunts worden zo plechtig gebracht dat er een akelig, sacraal sfeertje hangt over het hele album.
Misschien is de muziek wat lastig aan de man te brengen. Voor doom fans zal dit misschien te snel zijn en voor death metal fans weer te langzaam. Het is dan ook geen typische, depressieve doom. Dit wordt meer gekenmerkt door een dreigende drive.
Ik ben er in ieder geval erg over te spreken.

Ongelofelijk dat deze band (op basis van de beschrijving van de nieuwe plaat) steeds ontoegankelijker en harder wordt. Ik ben weer zeer benieuwd naar dit nieuwe werk. Favoriet is hier nog altijd de tweede full length The Prophecy of Doom. Maar ook Occultus Insanus Damnatus draait hier nog regelmatig zijn rondjes, evenals het debuut; La Tristesse Eternelle!
