Nu on topic: Zeer "brave" black (vergeleken met de chaos die ik meestal draai), melodieus, uit Zwitserland:
Tribes of Caïn.
Ik vind het goed, luistert lekker weg en die lui weten wat songwriting en muziek maken inhoudt. Zeer boeiend.

Er zullen idd zat lui zijn die dit middelmatig en vergetenswaardig vinden, maar dit is één van de weinige melodieuze bm bands die mijn aandacht wel weten vast te houden.

Onder het motto 'beter laat dan nooit' wil ik hier even melden dat ik vandaag (pas) ben gegrepen door de genialiteit en magie van Emperor. Het is me een waar raadsel hoe ik in de jaren dat ik al black metal luister om deze band heen gekomen ben. Ik vertel niemand iets nieuws als ik begin over hoe fantastisch Emperor is, maar goed. Geniaal gitaarwerk, zeer strak drumwerk, geweldige vocalen en de perfecte balans in keyboardgebruik.
Hier moet ik zo snel mogelijk alles van in huis hebben!

Als ik metal-archives raadpleeg, zie ik dat ze net een nieuw album uithebben; Anno Aspera - 2003 Years After Bastard's Birth.

Maar ze zijn dus aan te raden? Ik moet het nog beluisteren, eigenlijk. Zit Bolle Henri van Moonsorrow en Finntroll er niet in?

Waarschijnlijk omdat het bij jou niet over jaren gaat maar eerder maanden...

Ik ben gisteren bij Boudisque de nieuwe Clandestine blaze misgelopen maarrrrr...ik heb wel The Eerie cold van Shining te pakken kunnen krijgen.
Wat een ziek stukje black metal is dat zeg!

Je hoort wel eens depressieve muziek waarbij je denkt: "Nou, die gozer die dit geschreven heeft had z'n week even niet."

Bij de nieuwe Shining lijkt het meer alsof Kvaford zo ziek is van het leven dat hij er van moet kotsen. En die pure walging hoor je terug op dit album. Zieke, depressieve riffs waar je maag van omdraait, wanhopige vocalen die het laatste beetje lucht uit de longen gebruiken, rollende drums en allerlei vreemde effecten zoals accoustische stukken, piano intermezzo's en de hoge zang in Nagonting ar javligt fel. Gelukkig maken die dingen de cd niet softer maar juist nog zieker.

Aanrader voor fans van depressieve black metal.

Dit laatste album is uitgekomen op Avantgarde music.
Redelijk bekend label toch wel.

It is time now for Selbstmord Services to make a statement to enlighten all gossiping lowlifes out there about what really happened with the label: Kvarforth first worked together with a person whom had as main priority taking care of the actual shipping of items which had been ordered, though, because of his mental instability in the end fucked up in shipping with several of the labels customers and allied distributors.
Kvarforth tried to starighten the situation out himself by joining forces with a new employee and a person from one of the label artists but after two months of active work this one person got into a huge disagreement with, get ready to laugh, Kvarforth’s mother who was used back then for the financial matters such as bookkeeping, taxes and so on whilst Kvarforth’s girlfriend helped out borrowing Kvarforth money in order to pay for this persons bills, which were quite exhagurated due to his billions of phonecalls to his girlfriend in particular (we’re talking 600 euro bills for private phonecalls only). This "allie", "friend" whatever left in the end unexpectadely and hasn’t talked with us since. After we found out on the bands website that the they didn’t want to work with us anymore. Even though Kvarforth himself with help from his girlfriend had payed a total sum of almost 30.000 SEK (roughly 3300 euro) for this persons 2 months of stay.

Kvarforth was institutionalised back and forth due to his mental health and also put behind bars for a short period of time, because of the fact that he broke down seriously after all that had happened, and no, this wasn’t merely that, also Selbstmord Services were ripped off for 7000 euro by a very well known belgian distributor and roughly 4000-5000 euro from three others. Kvarforth were also at this time recording the 4th shining album but were close of not succeding due to the fact that the studio managed to erase half of the album without backups so the shit had to be recorded again, after 13th months of failure Kvarforth decided to kill Selbstmord Services once and for all and started working together with me on Vicious Recordings and brought the remaining loyal bands with him. On the note, Selbstmord Services also faced the problem of being bootleged by several "only-in-it-for-the-profit" labels in Europe which also resulted in a massive problem financially for the label.

Now, almost a year afterwards I have talked Kvarforth over into starting up Selbstmord Services again firstly due to the fact that it was the best label around when it came to semi-professional work (which we all now know why it was fucked) and also to once and for all straighten out the mess not only Kvarforth, but his surroundiings, got Selbstmord Services into. And now that I am here as well I will make fucking sure Kvarforth will not be as naive and trustful against other lowlifes when it comes to the work he is about to do for OUR label!

IN CONCLUSION: if you feel you have been mistreated by Selbstmord Services or not recieved the items you have ordered send me a e-mail and me and Kvarforth will make sure to handle your case as soon as fysically possible. And yes, we will also inform you about what happened with the artists whom no longer work with us to avoid this internet bullshit threads: after the recording of the second FORGOTTEN TOMB album, Kvarforth decided under Wedebrands influence that it would not be wise to release that very album due to Herr Morbid’s views upon certain things, with other words, Kvarforth, Phil A. Cirone and Wedebrand felt that the entire concept of FORGOTTEN TOMB didn’t belong at the label. ZAVORASH left because of what has been explained above, but were more of a relief for 50% of the label due to the fact that it was only Kvarforth who actually did like the band. ONDSKAPT, living in the same town, came to the same conclusion as with ZAVORASH. Both bands had recorded two excellent (well one according to me, 2 according to Kvarforth) albums in the same studio for a sum of almost 60.000 SEK (roughly 6500 euro) and were given the right to release these two albums on other labels as they wished too without paying a single sent to the label.

ONDSKAPT and ZAVORASH both believed to have been ripped off by Kvarforth prior to this, however, the ZAVORASH album sold 800 copies as the other 200 were used for promotion (vinyl which sadly was licensed to Perverted Taste didn’t move at all as we have been informed). Whilst the album of ONDSKAPT was pressed in 2000 copies (at that time marketed by Avantgarde) and didn’t sell at all either. Even if there would have been some money in this Kvarforth and Selbstmord Services used it all for promotion of both releases and in the end Selbstmord Services have ONLY lost money because of this. ONDSKAPT did also manage to both destroy several parts of Abyss Studios which Selbstmord Services had to pay and threathened the mastering studio which Selbstmord Services had to stand behind and pay while they decided to master once more in another studio.

ONDSKAPT at least is a very good band, with some individuals who actually stand behind their lyrics and ideology, we wish both them and ZAVORASH well in the corrupted music industry however, I for one will not tolerate bullshit against us from anyone who WE have payd ridiculous amounts of money in contradiction to what we have recieved… In the end: Selbstmord Services did quite a job with the bands promotion wise in the beginning.

IN CONCLUSION: if you feel you have been mistreated by Selbstmord Services or not recieved the items you have ordered send me a e-mail and me and Kvarforth will make sure to handle your case as soon as fysically possible. Zijn er hier trouwens mensen bekend met de Noorse band Allfader? Ik heb enkele jaren geleden eens de cd From the Darkest Star besteld, en toen dacht ik "hier gaan we meer van horen". Redelijk in de stijl van Enslaved, maar dan met meer pure black metal-invloeden en goed ingezette cleane zang.
Hier gingen we dus niet meer van horen, aangezien de band bij nader onderzoek weer in het demo-circuit beland is.

Goed nieuws: voor een kennismaking zijn drie volledige demo's gratis te downloaden via de website www.allfader.cjb.net

Die demo's klinken weliswaar ietsje minder dan de cd (geen cleane zang meer jammer genoeg), maar nog zeker bovengemiddeld. Ik zou zeggen, als de demo's bevallen dan geef de full length ook eens een kans!

Stutthof: Rauwe, snelle black metal met "holle/spacey" klinkende achtergrond keyboard. Ideologisch antieke griekse cultuur en ras.

In hetzelfde jaar dat het geweldige Spiritual Catharsis van dit obscure Australische eemansproject verschijnt ook alweer dit tiende album, getiteld Mysterious Semblance. Waar Spiritual Catharsis nog als cd verscheen, moeten we het ditmaal in eerste instantie met een professionele) tape-release (via Total Holocaust Records) doen. De sound is ditmaal iets minder ziek en experimenteel uitgevallen, hoewel er nog altijd een bijzonder smerige, negatieve aura over dit album hangt. De huiveringwekkende ambient-opener A Sour, Pale, Ghostly Dawn (een titel die de sfeer van het nummer overigens perfect weergeeft) zet wat dat betreft al meteen de toon. De nummers op Mysterious Semblance zijn sowieso monotoner uitgevallen en moeten het meer hebben van zorgvuldig opgebouwde sfeerimpressies dan van techniek en songwriter-schap, maar dat werkt. Vooral het twintig minuten durende Mysterious Semblance of Spectral Trees laat Striborg op haar best horen: zieke, kille riffs, mysterieuze, dreigende keyboardpartijen en een huiveringwekkend klinkende echo die voor zang doorgaat. Het tempo ligt meestal vrij laag, wat de sfeer ten goede komt, en waardoor de snelle stukken ook echt indruk maken. Productioneel gezien is Mysterious Semblance een typisch Striborg-product: de productie is bijzonder primitief (en analoog), maar doeltreffend. Verwacht dus zeker geen technische hoogstandjes of glad geproduceerde nummers, maar kille, bevreem-dende, primitieve black metal die slechts voor een kleine groep is weggelegd.

Dear cosmonauts & sybarites,

and there is nothing more left to say. Members of the band will continue to seperately pursue other avenues of art, literature and music but Velvet Cacoon and what it
stood for has been put to sleep.

We endlessly thank our half brothers at Full Moon Productions and we can only hope that the "December Star Embassy" trilogy, our masterwork,

Betreffende de Lunar Aurora/Paysage D'Hiver split, wat heerscht vooral het Lunar Aurora gedeelte, hoor invloeden van o.a. Emperor en Xasthur terug,
over het Paysage D'Hiver gedeelte kan ik nog moeilijk oordelen, klinkt op het eerste gehoor nog te ruizig om hem goed op waarde te kunnen schatten,
maar qua sfeer zit het wel helemaal snor.
