Origin: USA (North Carolina - Charlotte) Mercy (1996) B 8.6
To the extent of my knowledge, Altura came into the progressive rock/metal world in the mid 90's and released one album on the Magna Carta record label before disappearing entirely from the proverbial prog scene. To me, the band kind of sounds like a lighter, more melodic Fates Warning; or a heavier version of Enchant.
This is my only Altura album, and I believe the only album they ever released. I can't really find any fault with the album at all, although I suppose I could argue that the sound is a little typical (ie, predictable) for the genre. To me this album come across as a nice mix between the somber, melodic qualities of Enchant and the prog metal dynamism of Dream Theater. It is by all means a good album all around, with strong musicianship and quality song writing. Still, even after owning this album for nearly five years, little about it ("One by One") stands out as truly memorable. (8/1/1999)

Kijk daar kunnen we wat mee. Bedankt!
