Austrian death machine

Ok, dit is een beetje een raar verhaal. Austrian death machine is namelijk geniaal maar qua muziek gebeurt er weinig nieuws.

Ik zal bij het begin beginnen. Austrian death machine is een projectje van Tim Lambesis, de zanger van As I lay dying.
Dit projectje wijkt dan ook niet echt veel af van de muziek van As I lay dying. Al is het allemaal wat minder melodieus en wat bruter. Minder genuanceerd zeg maar. Kortom, met de muziek zit het wel goed maar dat is niet hetgene dat de band geniaal maakt.

Het geniale is dat Austrian death machine een totale tribute is aan Arnold Schwarzenegger. Dit komt tot uiting in de namen van de songs, teksten, samples en (slechte) immitaties van hun held.

Ik heb het gehoord, en het klinkt zeker niet verkeerd! In tegenstelling tot wat ik verwacht had, want ik heb niet zon hoge pet op van As I Lay Dying.

Leuk, maar zeker niet meer dan dat. Vrij doordeweekse muziek, af en toe gaaf voor op feestjes. Zeker niet bijzonder en de Arnie imitaties zijn meestal niet echt humoristisch.

Gisteren heel kort een stukje van gehoord. Klinkt wel leuk, maar meer dan 10 euro zou ik er niet voor over hebben.

De imitaties vond ik toch erg grappig, moet ik zeggen. Maar kan ook komen doordat ik al wat bier op had.

Als de muziek al heel gaaf zou zijn, zou ik me denk ik na 2 luisterbeurten al wel gigantisch gaan iriteren aan die imitaties.

Disc two is crammed full of metal covers, complete with Ahhnold’s take on them, including Metallica’s 'Trapped Under Ice' and 'Killing Is My Business…and Business Is Good' by none other than Megadeth.

AUSTRIAN DEATH MACHINE guitarist, bassist, drummer and vocalist, Tim Lambesis adds: “Most bands sit around in a rehearsal room for a few years to put out a 10 song album and do a tour supporting that release. I've been a busy touring with As I Lay Dying and traveled everywhere this year besides Antarctica, but in the five minutes that I was home between tours I decided to put together a double disc of Ahhnold inspired brutality called Double Brutal. Also, Ed Repka (the legend behind the artwork for Megadeth) did an amazing job on this album cover.”

Als je van saaie doordeweekse thrash/crossover houdt wel ja. Die flauwe imitaties zijn ook al niet meer leuk na één keer luisteren. Blijft over, een vrij flauwe poging tot grappig zijn. Nog steeds niet overtuigend.
